One may put a time limit upon the order. This is to avoid paying the commission every day if your order is not being filled fully. Your order of 4,000 shares is only partially filled. (Say 2000 shares) you may have to wait another 2 days and pay the commission for the next two days if you wait or do not put a ceiling on the time limit. Setting a limit price means you determine the selling price as say $0.7 and if there is no enough trading less that the price you have set, you may not get all the shares that you wanted.  However, knowing that there were sufficient shares on offer 4.0 and that the trading house had a good trading volume should give you the confidence you need to say that you will get the shares.

The final cost of doing the trade will be calculated thus. You have decide on the number of stock (4,170) that you want and the amount you are willing to pay for ($0.70)Instead of using the computer it is better to talk live, though you will lend up paying the extra cost, because the broker will be able to guide you better. He will have some inkling of the market movement and will be able to tell if your order is going to be met or not. Since your order remains open till the end of the time limit that you have set, you may track its movement and decide if the number of shares that you have got is enough. If you feel that the shares are enough, then you may cancel the outstanding orders and thus save yourself a lot of commission.

Penny stocks are volatile and so, require constant monitoring.
